We can provide a trained member of staff to care for your loved one while you have a break from your role as carer. The number of hours allocated to you is determined by Perth & Kinross Council and when one of our office team visits to do an assessment they will discuss when/how you want to use your hours.
Our aim is to provide continuity of care by allocating regular care staff to individual service users, so as they can build a rapport.
Respite care may involve both indoor and outdoor activities depending on your loved one’s requirements. Our staff can stay in your home to care for your relative or can take your loved one out in their car, staff do many different things with service users, depending on their ability. Some of the things that service users enjoy include going for a walk, or a drive and stopping for coffee/lunch. Attending a tea dance, going to the cinema, swimming, attending appointments. Indoor activities include playing dominoes, scrabble, doing crosswords, reading the paper, having tea/coffee or lunch and chat.
The majority of respite care we provide is funded by our local authority, to access this service you have to have a carer’s assessment which will be carried out by the local authority.
Our staff are all registered with SSSC and the majority have either completed SVQ2 or are working towards that end.
